Saathi does a citizen's government life admin for them, over a phone call they don't pay for.
Filing one grievance at a block office costs a rural citizen about four hours door-to-door and a bus fare — a day's lost wages, spent on the chance of being heard. Every digital fix so far assumes a smartphone, a data pack and the ability to read a form. The people who need these schemes most have none of those.
So a citizen gives a missed call. Saathi rejects it instantly — free to them — and calls back within seconds, in Hindi. They can check scheme eligibility, file a grievance, or be transferred to the right department. WhatsApp is a second door for those who have it.
Three things make it different:
- We measure the saving, and don't grade our own homework. Elapsed time comes from Twilio's billing clock, not ours.
RC-4471 · 4h 0m → 1m 38s · 99.3% faster - Eligibility is computed, not looked up. A deterministic rules engine over 8 real central schemes — no LLM, because a pension decision has to be reproducible. And an unanswered question never disqualifies anyone.
- Saathi calls you back days later to check it was actually resolved. Most gov-tech stops at "complaint filed."
Built with Node.js, Twilio, WhatsApp Cloud API, Bhashini and AWS Polly.
